DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING RWANDA

Early wake up at about 6.30am for a cup of tea/coffee, pick packed lunch, NOT forgetting drinking water and a raincoat, transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi by 7.30am. While here, you are assigned rangers and allocated a particular Gorilla family you shall be trekking. Note that Volcanoes National Park has up to 10 habituated Gorilla groups available for the trekking experience. Each Gorilla group is tracked no more than 8 travellers in a single day.

After allocation and briefing from the rangers, you transfer to start of your trekking just outside Volcanoes National Park. It is also here that you find the porters for hire to carry your bags. When you find the Gorillas, you are allowed an hour to view and observe them, an hour of a lifetime! Return to meet your driver at the starting point and thereafter transfer to your lodge relax, have dinner and sleep.

DAY 3: CULTURAL TOUR AND TRAVEL TO KIGALI CITY FOR A TOUR

After an early breakfast, head to the Iby Iwacu cultural village for a great dance and cultural performance by the Rwandan people. check out and travel to Kigali. Set out to tour this vibrant city and one of the fastest growing in Africa. Visit the local markets and purchase some souvenirs such as crafts. You also get to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial site. Lunch during the tour. Evening drop-off at your accommodation.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: KIGALI RWANDA – NYUNGWE FOREST
You will be picked up by the driver/ guide and you ought to be finished with your breakfast and just ready to depart from the hotel in Rwanda Kigali town. The final destination is will be Nyungwe forest National Park with an en-route stop to some historical sites on the main road like Kamegeri rock, king’s palace and museums in Nyanza. You will arrive in time for lunch and check in to your booked accommodation. Later in the evening, you will have a canopy walk deep into the forest combined with a walk around the tea plantation and return to your lodge Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE AND COLUMBUS MONKEY TREKKING
Wake up early, enjoy your breakfast and get to the starting point for a debrief from the park officials/ guide on the do’s and don’t before you set off into the forest for chimpanzee trekking experience. The trek will be done in time for your lunch where you will return to the lodge, relax a bit and later in the afternoon head out for the Columbus monkey trek. This activity, however, will expose you to a number of other primates such as baboons, vervet monkeys, birds and more floras hence return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO RUHENGERI – KINIGI TOWN
When you are done with your breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and head out of Nyungwe National Park and transfer to Ruhengeri -Kinigi towns. When you get there you will be welcomed to some cultural performances at the Iby Iwacu cultural village. You shall check in and rest the evening away as you wait for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: GORILLA TRACKING SAFARI IN VOLCANOES
Breakfast will be ready and done by the time you leave you rooms as you will be trying to keep time and get to where you have to be on time. Having breakfast shouldn’t take so long as you will be going Gorilla trekking today. You should be at the starting point at least 30 minutes earlier to hear what the trekking guide has to tell you about the Mountain Gorillas that you will be seeing today in the volcanoes forest.

You also should have carried the walkable shoes, rain gears, hut, sun screen, insect repellent and much required while in tropical rain forest. When you return from the gorilla trek you will go ahead and visit Buhanga forest for some Kinigi Cultural Village with dinner and overnight at your booked lodge/ hotel.

DAY 5: COMMUNITY TOUR-LAKE KIVU
With breakfast done and out of the way, you will head to visit the Banana and Sorghum beer production experiences and you could have a taste. You will then transfer to Lake Kivu and arrive in time for lunch, later relax as you swim at the shores of Lake Kivu with dinner and overnight

DAY 6: TRANSFER FROM LAKE KIVU – KIGALI
Have breakfast, then drive to Kigali with a city tour where you will pass via local foods markets and grocery markets. You will have an opportunity to shop for Souvenir in local hand craft markets and then finally make your way to the airport for your return flight back home.

DAY 2: KAMPALA CITY TOUR

DAY 3: KAMPALA/SSEZIBWA FALLS/JINJA
After breakfast, head to the East with a stopover at Ssezibwa falls, Mabira forest, have a light forest walk, see the birds before continuing to Jinja at the source of the Nile. DAY 4: JINJA EXCURSION

DAY 5: JINJA-MBALE
After breakfast, drive past the sugarcane and tea plantations to Mbale. Visit the Sipi falls before retiring for dinner and rest. DAY 6: HIKE MOUNTAIN ELGON
Enjoy breakfast with magnificent views and then set off for a hike on mountain Elgon. The abseiling which takes about 4 hours is a unique and thrilling experience. DAY 7: MBALE – KAMPALA

DAY 8: KAMPALA-MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
After your breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel by our guide. Drive to Murchison falls National Park. Stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking and shoe bird search. Visit the top of the falls, a breathtaking experience where the Nile is forced through a narrow gap in the rocks only 7 meters wide before plunging down 43 meters. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari lodge/Chobe safari lodge/Murchison River lodge/ Red Chilli rest camp. Meal plan: F/B

DAY 9: GAME DRIVE, BOAT RIDE
Dawn game drive early this morning will enable you to see lions, if you are lucky. Your drive will take you across Lake Albert and the Nile Delta where you will see elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and giraffes. Return to the lodge for lunch and get a chance to relax before taking a boat cruise in the afternoon. The boat cruise takes about 3 hours and is sighted as the highlight of this trip to Murchison.

It allows you to get up-close with the animals; along the stretch of this river are numerous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is also prolific; brightly colored kingfisher, bee eaters darting along the river banks. This ride will take you all the way to the base of the falls. DAY 10: BUDONGO CHIMP TREK – QUEEN NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, set off early for chimpanzee trekking at Kaniyo Pabidi where you will enjoy the sounds and watch various species of chimpanzee and other primates, birds. These are believed to possess about 98% of human characteristics. Lunch, and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight at Mweya lodge/Katara lodge/Enganzi lodge/Bush lodge. DAY 11: GAME DRIVE, BOAT RIDE
Dawn game drive after your breakfast, View elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, the Uganda Kobs, among others. Have a boat cruise after lunch with an experienced guide. At the Kazinga channel, you will see various bird species, crocodiles and a good number of hippos. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

DAY 12: KYAMBURA GORGE-BWINDI GORILLA PARK
After breakfast drive for early morning chimp trek at Kyambura gorge. Return to lodge for lunch and after set off for the Ishasha reserve where the tree climbing lions can be viewed. Have an evening game drive; see the lions up close before retiring for dinner and overnight at Engagi lodge/Buhoma lodge/ Buhoma rest camp. Meal plan: F/B

DAY 13: BWINDI GORILLA TRACKING
Early breakfast and briefing from the guides before you set off for the mountains gorilla tracking inside the Bwindi forest. You need to carry drinking water, rain jacket and jungle boots while the rangers will provide you with a walking stick. Gorilla tracking is enriching and rewarding as you walk through the thick rain forest. After tracking, come back to the lodge for lunch before making a scenic journey to Kabale through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. An area referred as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi resort/Heritage lodge/Arcadia Cottages. Meal plan: F/B

DAY 14: LAKE BUNYONYI-RWANDA
After your breakfast, you will drive through the hills of Kisoro and Kabale also known as the Switzerland of Africa. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Bunyonyi which is also a magnet for various bird species. You will continue to the Katuna border and cross over into Rwanda. Enjoy the beautiful landscape, forests and plantations on your way to Kigali. Visit the craft villages there and thereafter retire for dinner. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena hotel/Okapi Hotel. DAY 15: KIGALI CITY TOUR
After an early morning breakfast, you will visit the genocide memorial center and listen to their stories. After lunch, you will have a city tour safaris. DAY 16: KIGALI-VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

DAY 17: RWANDA GORILLA TRACKING
After breakfast we bring you to the starting point of the gorilla tracking. After the briefing you begin your tracking of the gorillas. The bamboo forest will drip around you as you first hear the breaking of bamboo signaling the group is near and then you will be face to face with one of the most delightful and fascinating creatures in the world. After an hour’s viewing you will make the trek back to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

DAY 18: KIGALI – KAMPALA

DAY 19: KAMPALA-KALANGALA BEACH VACATION
The guide will pick you up at your hotel towards midday. You will drive to Entebbe in time for the 2.00 pm ferry. Enjoy Lake Victoria at its best. You will arrive at Uganda’s best kept secret, the Ssese Islands at 5.00 pm. Have dinner around a bonfire and barbeque by the beach where you may dance the night away. DETAILED ITINERARY DAY 1: ARRIVAL WITH TRANSFER TO KAMPALA Depending on your flight details, you will be picked up from the airport by your guide/ driver and you will be dropped off ... moreto the booked accommodation as planned ahead. If there is time, you could meet with your safari consultant for a cup of coffee or dinner depending on you. You will then rest as you get ready for your next day’s safari, dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

DAY 2: DRIVE TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK WITH A BIGODI SWAMP NATURE WALK.
With a pick up from one of our guides/ drivers by 6:30am, you will start the journey at exactly 7am as you will be driving straight to Kibale National Park. You will use the Northern route from Kampala through Mubende and finally to Fort Portal. You will be having lunch here and then head to the national park for your afternoon activity. You should be at Kanyanchu the starting point before 2pm because that is the time you will be starting the Walk.

The walk takes 2 to 3 hours and you will retire for the day. Hereafter you will head to the accommodation we would have booked for you and check in. You will relax as you wait for your dinner.

DAY 3: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND CULTURAL WALK IN THE AFTERNOON
Today you will kick off the day with your early morning breakfast as you should be ready and at the starting point of tracking (Kanyanchu) by 7:30am. Here you will be debriefed on the do’s and don’t when you get into the park, this is where you will leave the guide/ drive and be led by the park guide. The track starts at exactly 8am and goes for up to 2 to 3 hours and an additional one hour you are allowed with the chimps. After the one is done, you will track back to the starting point. When you return from the track, you will head back to your accommodation and have your launch. After you have had your lunch, you will then head back to the starting point of the cultural walk and take a look at the beautiful art crafts that the locals make.

You could even support them by buying something. These walks are organized by Kibale Association for Rural Environmental Development (KAFRED) which is located in Magombe swamp. The walk will start at 2pm and go on for 2 to 3 hours depending on the activities you will take part in. You then retire for the day and head back to your accommodation for another overnight with dinner.

DAY 4: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
Early morning drive Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, This drive takes you through Uganda’s rolling green hills and through the highlands, also known as the “Switzerland of Uganda.” The road will then even head higher to where you can see the triangular peaks of the Virunga Volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo. We will then drop down into the valley to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the remaining mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Accommodation:

DAY 5: BWINDI GORILLA TRACKING
After breakfast, your guide will take you along to the ranger station to register before 8.00 am. You will be given a short talk by the rangers before setting off. The trackers will lead you through the forest, slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours so a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. You sit in the forest among the gorillas listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback.

It is amazing to think that there are only 650 or so of these creatures left in the world! If you have the afternoon free, take a guided village walk-Experience Ugandans life, visit a local bar and meet the local medicine man. Later return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: TRANSFER FROM BWINDI TO RWANDA VOLCANOES
Early morning breakfasts proceed your drive through the triangular Mountainous areas heading to the Volcanoes, You will have Dinner En-route and on arrival in Rwanda you will check in your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: RWANDA TRACK MOUNTAIN GORILLA IN VOLCANOES
Up relatively in the Morning for breakfast to drive to the Ranger station to prepare for your Gorilla Track in the Volcanoes then return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8: VOLCANOES – KIGALI
Morning Breakfast, drive to Kigali for a city tour, lunch and do Shopping as you go to Kigali Airport for your flight back home!

Day 2: Primates Tracking in Nyungwe Forest – Rwanda
After an early breakfast, you will set off to discover the primates and scenic splendor of Nyungwe. Viewing the primates on the steep slopes of Nyngwe forest is quite challenging but the park guides at Nyungwe are experienced and very knowledgeable about most of Nyungwe’s wildlife. The guides shall provide you with all the relevant information about thße primates in Nyungwe forest; primates lifestyle, feeding, reproduction among other details.

Among the primates you are to track in Nyungwe forest include; chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkey, golden monkeys, large troops of the Angola Colobus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys among other primates.

A safari to Nyngwe forest will also expose you to an excellent birding experience. Nyungwe forest harbors almost 300 bird species of which 24 species are endemics of the Albertine rift region like the great blue Turaco, the Rwenzori Turaco, paradise flycatcher, a long-tailed blue, orange and white bird, and the forest hornbills among others. Return to the lodge for lunch, relax and wait for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Return to Kigali –City tour- Departure

You will arrive in the Ruhengeri town and then check in to your pre booked lodge for the dinner and overnight stay.

Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), La Palme Hotel (Mid-range), Kinigi Guest House (Budget).

Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla trekking and then cross to Uganda.
Have your early morning breakfast and then make your way to Kinigi and assemble for the gorillas briefing at the park offices by at least 7 am. You will later set off to the well set trails into the volcanic forest involving hiking within the terrain with views of several birds plus flora and fauna. It may take you between 2 and 6 hours to reach the gorillas, once you reach them, you will spend only one hour with them and then trek back to return to the starting point. This is where you will meet with your driver and have a picnic lunch and then cross to enter in Uganda. In the evening you will check in to your lodge for dinner.

Overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury), Gorilla Resort Bwindi (Mid-range), Travelers Rest Hotel Kisoro.

Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla trekking and then transfer back to Kigali.
Have a very early and quick breakfast with packed lunch and then drive to the park headquarters for the briefing about the gorillas. You then set off with your guide into the dark forest of Bwindi which is thick and a bit challenging due to steep slopes and valleys. You wil be rewarded to view other forest residents like the monkeys, butterflies and several birds. This trek ranges between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. Remember in the ape’s presence you spend only one hour watching and taking their photos then you trek back to proceed back to Kigali. If time allows you depending on your flight schedule, you can do last minute shopping in Kigali African shops and later catch your departure flight.

The 3 days Rwanda chimpanzee safari takes you to the Nyungwe rainforest is placed in the southwestern Rwanda, at the border with Burundi, south, and Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic ... moreof the Congo to the west. Nyungwe rainforest is probably the best preserved rainforest in the mountains throughout Central Africa. It is located in the watershed between the basin of the river Congo to the west and the basin of the river Nile to the east. From the east side of the Nyungwe forest comes also one of the branches of the Nile sources. Day2: Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy walk

Have breakfast, and after meet at the park offices for the briefing about the primates and the forest, after enter into the tropical rain forest searching for the shy chimpanzees in the tree branches. While on this walk expect to spot other primates like the white and black Columbus, Vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys and manageably. More birds can be spotted too in the Nyungwe National park, return to lodge for lunch and then evening take the canopy walk looking for primates, birds and the clear of the green canopy cover. Day3: Nyungwe Forest-Kigali

Have breakfast, and after embark the safari vehicle and drive back to Kigali with lunch en-route. Then drive to the airport for your return flight back home. Meal plan: H/B, End of services
