KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Kathmandu Durbar Square is situated in the heart of old Kathmandu city at Basantapur, it never fails to impress first time visitors with its ensemble of palaces, courtyards and temples built during the Malla period. The Durbar Square includes the Hanuman Dhoka Royal Palace, the historic seat of the royalty; the magnificent Taleju Temple towering more than 40 meters; Kumari Ghar, the residence of the Living Goddess, Kumari; Ashok Vinayak, also called Kathmandu Ganesh, a temple without a filial ; and Kal Bhairav, the God of Wrath. The capital takes its name from the giant pagoda of Kasthamandap, which is said to have been built out of a single tree. Since the time of the Malla kings, the Durbar Square has been the city’s social, religious and political focal point.

SWAYAMBHUNATH STUPA (UNESCO World Heritage Site): located on a hillock 3 km west of Kathmandu, it is one of the holiest Buddhist Chaityas in Nepal. It is said to have evolved spontaneously when the valley was created out of a primordial lake more than 2,000 years ago. This stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal and has numerous shrines and monasteries on its premises.

PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Pasupatinath Temple is Situated 5 km east of Kathmandu, the temple of Lord Shiva is considered one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. The two-tiered pagoda with golden roofs and silver doors houses the sacred linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva. Chronicles indicate the temple existed before 400 A.D. Near the Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati River lies Guheswari, where, according to mythology, a portion of Sati Devi, Lord Shiva’s consort, fell when a grief-stricken Shiva wandered aimlessly across the earth carrying her dead body on his shoulders following her self-immolation.

BOUDDHANATH STUPA (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Bouddhanath Stupa is Situated 8 km to the east of downtown Kathmandu, Bauddhanath is one of the most imposing landmarks in Kathmandu, visible as soon as you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport. An odyssey through rugged wilderness above the timberline, visiting the north & south base camps of the 3rd highest peak on the planet, the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek will test ... moreyour emotions & tax your body to the limit but the rewards are phenomenal and it will release you from your demons and could even change your life.
The Kanchenjunga circuit trek is an adventure in high country wilderness in one of the most unspoiled trekking regions in the Nepal Himalaya which is located in the eastern part of ... moreNepal, the Kanchenjunga region opened its trails for trekking in 1988 AD, Mt. Kanchenjunga at (8586m) is the world’s third highest mountain and trekking in the region offers an infinite variety of landscapes, cultures and panoramic views of the Himalayas and our intricately designed program approaches the North Base Camp first, trekking through deep ravines, forests of bamboo; rhododendron and larch pine to the Tibetan village of Ghunsa and goes further into the high mountains, we are sensitive enough to spend time acclimatising around Ghunsa and Kambachen, before continuing along the Kangchenjunga Glacier to spend a night at Pangpema, base camp on the north side.

The stunning views of Jannu, Kangchenjunga and Chang Himal are jaw dropping…virtually; the adventure includes crossing the Mirgin La at (4,550m) to Tseram and it’s more rational to cross the pass from north to south and this part of the trek is simply superb, awesome scenery and exciting hiking, which is suggestive of the Lake District! By now we're well acclimatised, and hike at our own pace up to Ramchaur with the awesome views of Ratong, the Kabru Peaks and the South Face of Kanchenjunga giving us wonderful company all the way.

We exit the mountain via an obscure path; travelling through villages where the local folks look surprised as they don’t see much of trekkers as on the other routes, enjoy the attention you get as you hike down this side of the world! This is an extensive and diehard trek in a region with little or no infrastructure…virgin territory if we can call it that!! The trails are rugged and surging, at times exposed and there are landslides to deal with on the way. As a result, you would need to be a pretty experienced high country hiker & mentally pre-conditioned for uninterrupted days of grueling trekking in some extremely remote parts of the Himalayas.

The Kanchenjunga is located on the borders of Nepal and Sikkim (India) and Mt. Kanchenjunga is described as ‘Five treasures of the snow’ the journey around the Kanchenjunga Region is a special as we pass through tropical lowlands to the great rhododendron forests and chocolate box villages, glaciers and overwhelming views of Himalayas, the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is spread in an area of 2,035 square Kilometers, & is rich in wildlife diversity, where we get to spot snow leopards, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, red panda and other interesting animals. Bird species include the Amphibian pheasant, the red-billed blue robin make up some of the beautiful birds found in this region.

We have 26 day itinerary to complete the whole Kanchenjunga Circuit and this includes your arrival and departure days and our real trek begins from Suketar, Taplejung, & is accessible by air or via Basantapur, Kanchenjunga base camp trekking is still considered as exploratory trekking in Nepal, and we retrace our route to Taplejung, and return to Kathmandu.

It's a passage across the landslide in the area, with loose footing, a steep fall to the river and lots of tumbling football-sized rocks; we must tread carefully in this hazardous area as a wrong foot on a loose boulder can be fatal. Beyond the slide, the trail drops to the single locked hut at Lakep, and then traverses to Kambachen, where we get our first views of Mt. It’s far safer if we use the grassy trails than the rockier paths that are prone to landslides, the views are truly impressive down here, but we will not see the north face of Kangchenjunga or Wedge Peak until we are near Pangpema.
