This morning we walk up to Immetgogo peak, one of the scenic parts of the Simien Mountain. Then after we walk back to the campsite for Lunch and afternoon will be free. Overnight camping Overnight camping.

Day 6
Trek from Geech to Cheneck via Amba Ras. Overnight camping at Cheneck.

Day 7
Leave Cheneck for Ambiko. We trek up to the submit of Buahit (4430mts.) where we expect to see the endemic Walia Ibex. Then we continue to Ambiko for two nights camping.

Day 8
To day we trek up to the summit of Ras Dashen, the highest peak (4562 mts) in the country, and trek back to Ambiko on the same day. Overnight camping.

Day 9
Trek from Ambiko to Sona via the small village of Arguaziye. Overnight camping at Sona escarpment.

Day 10
Descending down to the lowland where we are seeing different bird species including the endemic white-billed starling and Abyssinian woodpecker. Overnight camping at Mekarebia village.

Day 11
Trek to Mulit via Derek Wanze and Awaza Rock Pillars. Overnight camping at Mulit.

Day 12
Walk to Adiarkay where we finish trekking and meet our vehicle. After lunch we drive to Gonder for an overnight staying.

Day 13
Fly back to Addis Ababa.

Itinerary Day 01-Simien Mountains Trekking to Sankaber (3240M). Arrive in Gondar by plane/drive through the refreshing city of Bahir Dar and our guide will be waiting for you with ... morea vehicle. Breakfast in Gondar and then drive to Debark, the headquarters of Semien Mountains. You'll have a short trek to the first camp, Sankaber. This is the Semien National Park, one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Africa, classified as World Heritage site. Spend the evening sharing cultures and stories while getting to know your guide, scout, and mule man. Camp out with the Gelada Baboons.

Overnight Camping

Day 02-Trekking to Geech (3600M).
After loading our mules, starting a beautiful day trek between Sankaber (3250M) and Geech. Begin your trek from Sankaber. The trail proceeds along the vast escarpment, first slightly uphill before starting a descent to the big waterfall of Jinbar, one of the park's most amazing waterfalls. Keep your eyes open for Gelada Baboons, Klipspringer, and a variety of Endemic Birds. Crossing barley fields and climb through the giant lobelia to reach Geech (traditional houses with thatched roofs) a Muslim village in an Orthodox-majority region. Last effort before reaching a plateau and our camp at 3600M altitude. Optional trek to view point, Kedadit (3760m).

Overnight Camping

Day 03-Imet Gogo (3926M), Inatye (4070M), Chennek (3620M)

Gradual rise on the vast plateau through the Afro-alpine meadow and giant lobelia to Imet Gogo (3926M) summit above the escarpment. This unique perspective rocky promontory that grants 360 degree views over the Semien Range and the playground of the Lammergeyer or Bearded Vulture. Along the ridge line and an impressive gorge, we could observe the walia ibex and, for the lucky one, the Ethiopian wolf. Descent into a valley before rising on the other side through curious rock formations and lobelia. Arriving at the top of Inatye (4070M), the first 4000m of the trip, offering a splendid viewpoint over the surrounding, plunging cliffs, deep valleys and small plateaus below that we would discover in the next two days ... Last descent following the surges of up camp Chennek (3620M). Several colonies of gelada baboons inhabit the area.

Overnight Camping

Day 04-Bhawit Pass (4200M), Mesha River (2750M), Ambiko (3200M)

Long and beautiful day trek which first leads to the Bhawit Pass, at 4200M altitude. After going up a valley dotted with giant lobelia, passing by the collar below the top of the same name. From the pass, the view stretches all the surrounding reliefs including Ras Dashen (4543M), the highest point of the country, which could be seen in the distance. Long descent into a valley and across the terraced barley crops, before reaching the large village of Chiro Leba (3300M) and Mesha River (2750M). At lower altitudes, sisal and euphorbia emerge. After crossing the river, last climb to reach our camp in the village of Ambiko (3200M).

Overnight Camping

Day 05-Ras Dashen (4543M)
With the help of our headlamps, wake up and get moving early around 4:30 A. M. The ascent to Ras Dashen at 4543M, the 4th highest peak in Africa. The rise is partly on a newly created track to open up a few mountain hamlets. Despite the track, the mountain landscapes are beautiful, dotted with giant lobelia. The last part of path requires the use of hands for the final meters. The final portion remains optional for those prone to vertigo. Beautiful descent, on the eastern slope, through the giant lobelia. Back to Ambiko to relax and celebrate!

Day 06- Descent
Another early start from Ambiko. Back to Chenek camp where a vehicle will be waiting for you back to Gondar.

Fly back to Capital City or add one more day and drive back and get a little rest at Hotel and in the evening welfare dinner held in the magnificent Traditional Restaurant of the city and after a pleasant drop down to Airport.

After 45 minutes flight drive to Sankaber where the park head office found paying the entrance fee and meet with the local guides start the journey by foot or by mule then walk to jinbar valley and Jinbar waterfall watching the fauna and flora, overnight in lodge.

Day 3:-campsite –Chennek
Trekking and watching the endemic Ethiopian mammals of Glada baboon and Walia ibex, overnight in lodge.

Day 4:-campsite – Arekwazeye
Full day trek in the amazing dramatic land escape, overnight in lodge.

Day 5:-campsite – Mekarebiya
Full day trek by visiting the birdlife and wild life of the area, overnight in Semien lodge.

Day 6:-campsite –Gonder
After a few trek in the surrounding of small local villages drive to Gonder town visiting the 16 century Fasil palace, overnight in Goha hotel.

Day 7:- Gonder – Addis Ababa
Flight back to Addis Ababa After arrival visiting the rest of Addis Ababa after you attend our farewell party at cultural restaurant departure.

This 12-day program visits the main historical sites and the stunning Simien Mountains.
Day 1: Early in the morning, depart north to Bahir Dar via Debre Markos. On the way visit the Portuguese bridge, said to have been the first bridge in Ethiopia. Afterwards, you will ... morepass through the spectacular Blue Nile Gorge. The gorge extends nearly 400km and reaches depths up to 1500m. Overnight in Bahir Dar (hotel).

Day 2: In the morning, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit a selection of the monasteries hidden on the islands and shores of this sacred lake. Visit the Zege Penninsula and the monasteries of Azuwa Maryam and Ura Kidane Mehret and the island monastery of Debre Maryam near the outlet of the Blue Nile River. In the afternoon, drive out to the Blue Nile Falls for a short hike in the area. Finish the day with the sunset over the lake. Overnight in Bahir Dar (hotel).

Day 3: After breakfast, continue north to Gondar. The four-hour drive will take you through rural villages, offering wonderful insight into the Amhara culture. After briefly settling in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings. Additionally, visit Fasilidas’s Pool, still used for Timket celebrations today, Ras Gimb Palace Museum and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous ceiling in Ethiopia. Overnight in Gondar (hotel).

Day 4: Today is an early morning departure to Sankober in the Simien Mountains. From here you will go for an easy hike to the Geech Abyss, where you will see a large waterfall where the Jinbar River plunges into the abyss. This area is also a great place for viewing the endemic gelada baboon, also known as the ‘bleeding heart baboon’ due to the red patch of skin on its chest. Overnight in the Simien Mountains (lodge) or in Debark (hotel).

Day 5: After breakfast, depart north for Axum, enjoying spectacular views of the Simien Mountains. After stopping for lunch in Adi Arkay, proceed driving through the dramatic Tekeze Valley, offering some of the best landscapes in the country. Proceed to Axum, home of the ancient Axumite Empire, the Queen of Sheba, and the Ark of the Covenant. Overnight in Axum (hotel).

Day 6: Today will be a full day visiting the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks (one that was recently erected after being returned from Italy) and the archeological museum, the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), Ezana’s enscription, King Kaleb’s tomb, King Bazen’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace. You can also visit the St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept. Men only are allowed to enter the old church. Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. Overnight in Axum (hotel).

Day 7: After breakfast, drive to visit the ruins of Yeha, dating from the 8th to 5th centuries BC, and thought to be the capital of Ethiopian civilization before Axum. Afterwards, visit the Debre Damo monastery, where the men (sorry! No women allowed.) must climb up a 15-m rope to enter. Proceed through the state of Tigray, stopping en-route for a visit to the rock-hewn church of Medhane Alem Adi Kesho. Overnight in Hawsein (hotel or lodge).

Day 8: In the morning, visit either Abuna Yemata Guh or Maryam Korkor. Both churches involve an approximate one-hour hike but offer commanding views of the surrounding area. After lunch, continue your visit with the more easily-accessible churches of Abreha we Atsbeha and Chirkos. Afterwards, proceed driving to Mekele for overnight (hotel).

Day 9: Early in the morning, embark on a full day of driving to Lalibela. Here you will pass through several small villages, with typical sandstone homes of the Tigray people. Proceed through this rural area for the stunning approach to the home of Ethiopia’s most prized destination – Lalibela. Overnight in Lalibela (hotel).

Day 10: In the morning, start your tour of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, visiting the Northwestern Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha (entry not permitted for women). After lunch, continue with the Southeastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Finally, you will visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, constructed in honor of the patron saint of Ethiopia – Saint George. Overnight in Lalibela (hotel).

Day 11: After breakfast, visit the nearby monastery of Na’akuto La’ab, set on the side of a cliff. After the visit, proceed driving to Kombolcha via Woldia. On the way you will stop for a rest in Hayk where you can enjoy the views of this stunning lake, visit the local monastery (open for men only) and enjoy the birdlife. Overnight in Kombolcha (hotel).

Day 12: Return driving to Addis via Debre Birhan. On the way you pass the Mezezo Escarpment, with a good chance to see the endemic gelada baboons. If today is a Sunday, you can stop in the town of Senbete to visit the lively market including the interesting camel market.
